My work seeks to contain life. By life, I mean both living and existence—yet for me, the Life is also the Truth, the single truth I believe in. My practice is centered on this truth, for the longing for it arises in every moment of being. Through this continual emergence, I rediscover the reason for existence. The greatest truth I know is ‘Love’. Repeated attempts—and inevitable failures—to lay down the self and genuinely embrace others have continually returned me to gratitude. My work continues as a record of this passage. The world may call it art, but for me, it is the revelation of truth through lived experience—the testimony of faith.

The foundation of my artistic inquiry lies in the ceaseless operations of the neural network. Over seventy trillion neurons absorb and store experience and sensation, releasing them beyond conscious governance. The process is unending—sometimes abrupt, even in sleep. Within this current, countless ‘characters’ emerge and disperse in constant flux. They form the essential resource of my work: an infinite internal dimension, too vast to be fully captured—beyond the reach of language.

When these elements coalesce, they surface as lines, colors, directions, velocities, and movements. At times, emotion intersects with fleeting landscapes; at others, sensory echoes crystallize into physical force, or the grandeur of nature condenses into a single gaze. Dormant entities awaken, manifesting as abstract images and gestures. Outwardly, what appears restrained and distilled in my visual outcome—though set against the overwhelming totality of my neural activity—is in fact the magnitude I confront: the whole of what I perceive. To bring this forward, my methodology extends across painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and audience participation.

Exhibition space plays a decisive role. Space is not a backdrop but the stage upon which meaning is shaped. The environment, the season, the architecture, the audience’s movement—even subtle details such as scent and sound—are woven into the work. I design space holistically so that the full arc of the visitor’s experience, from entry to departure, becomes inseparable from the work itself. Just as my practice originates from the spontaneous convergence of unbidden fragments, I hope the audience generates new and unexpected meanings through each encounter.

Ultimately, my endeavor in art testifies that truth alone constitutes the very foundation and fullness of life. Amid countless variables and unforeseen events, truth has remained constant—transforming despair and regret into unconditional joy and awe. Every moment of my life has been sustained by it, and so my work inevitably points toward it. The purpose of my practice is singular: to draw nearer to truth, to share the grace and miracle of walking along the Way, and to extend a quiet invitation for others to walk beside it.

제 작업은 언제나 ‘Life’를 담고 있습니다. 여기서 ‘Life’는 삶과 생명을 동시에 의미하며, 저에게 있어 ‘생명(the Life)’은 곧 제가 믿는 단 하나의 진리(the Truth)입니다. 작업이 이 진리에 집중하는 이유는, 그 진리를 향한 깊은 갈망이 삶의 순간마다 드러나고, 그 과정에서 존재의 이유를 확인하게 되며, 그러한 깨달음이 모여 저를 아티스트로 이끌었기 때문입니다. 제가 믿는 진리 가운데 가장 위대한 것은 ‘사랑’입니다. 자아를 내려놓고 타인을 진정으로 사랑하기 위한 수많은 시도와 실패는 결국 감사로 귀결되었고, 저는 그 기록을 남기기 위해 작업을 이어갑니다. 세상은 제 작업을 예술이라 부르지만, 저에게 그것은 삶을 통한 진리의 증명이며 믿음의 증거입니다.

제 작업의 방법론적 원천은 신경망의 무수한 작동에 있습니다. 7조 개가 넘는 신경들은 끊임없이 경험과 감각을 흡수하고 저장하며, 의식과 무관하게 배출됩니다. 이 과정은 24시간 멈추지 않고 이어지며, 때로는 급작스럽게, 수면 속에서도 작동합니다. 그 속에서 축적된 수많은 ‘캐릭터’들은 응집과 해체를 반복하며 작업의 핵심 자원이 됩니다. 이 거대한 내부 흐름은 언어로 온전히 포착할 수 없을 만큼 방대합니다.

이 자원들이 융합될 때, 그것은 선과 색, 방향, 속도, 움직임 등 다양한 조형적 언어로 드러납니다. 사건을 통해 발생한 감정의 스펙트럼과 찰나의 풍경이 교차하는 순간, 오감을 통해 흡수된 정보가 물리적 힘으로 전환되는 순간, 혹은 자연의 광활함이 하나의 시선에 응축되는 순간, 저는 뇌 속에 잠재된 자원이 추상적 이미지와 움직임으로 발현되는 과정을 경험합니다. 그 압도적인 총량에 비하면 외부로 드러나는 결과는 절제되고 정제된 형태를 보이지만, 그것이야말로 제가 마주한 본질이자 작업의 전부입니다. 이러한 과정을 구현하기 위해 저의 작업은 회화, 조형물, 공간 인스톨레이션, 쇼 퍼포먼스, 관객 참여 등 다양한 형식으로 확장됩니다.

전시 공간은 작업의 구상에서 결정적 역할을 합니다. 공간은 단순한 배경이 아니라 작품의 의미를 규정하는 무대입니다. 전시장 주변 환경과 계절, 공간의 구조와 관객의 동선은 물론, 향기와 소리 같은 작은 디테일까지도 작품의 일부로 통합됩니다. 저는 공간을 총체적으로 설계하여 관객의 입장부터 퇴장까지의 경험 전체가 작업의 일부가 되도록 기획합니다. 이는 작업이 의도치 않은 다수의 자원이 융합되어 나타나듯, 관객 또한 작품과의 만남을 통해 예기치 못한 의미를 생성하기를 바라는 의도입니다.

결국 제 작업은 오직 진리만이 삶의 근간이자 전부임을 증언합니다. 수많은 변수와 예측 불가능한 사건 속에서도 진리는 변함없이 존재하며, 절망과 자책의 순간조차 조건 없는 기쁨과 감격으로 전환시켰습니다. 제 삶의 모든 순간은 진리와 함께 있었고, 따라서 제 작업 역시 필연적으로 그 진리를 향할 수밖에 없습니다. 제가 작업을 이어가는 목적은 단 하나입니다. 진리에 더 가까이 다가가며 그 은혜와 기적의 길(the Way) 위에 서 있음을 작품을 통해 나누고, 그것을 마주한 이들이 그 여정에 동행하고자 하는 마음을 품기를 바라는 것입니다.
